GOA's Official FAQ List!
This is where you should stop by if you find yourself asking anything about how something works at GOA, what something on GOA is, why something is the way it is here, etc. Most obvious or most-asked questions should be found here. If any questions are not answered here, please contact me and I'll add your question to the list along with the answer I give you.
Please don't hesitate to ask multiple questions about an original question as you read. It doesn't make you stupid to not know or understand something; it just means there's more for you to learn! So don't feel bad about asking those multiple questions.
Q-1: What is GOA?
A-1: GOA is a Warriors RPG, where fans of the Warriors series written by Erin Hunter can create their own Clan cats and roleplay as them to make their own stories. The letters of GOA stand for Get Out Alive, the site's name.
Q-2: Why is it called Get out Alive?
A-1: GOA's name was inspired by the song from Three Days Grace, which is the song I listened to as I came up with the plot for the site. It also fits the plot in general. How? I think you'll see once I put the plot up.
Q-3: Why is there a "v2" in the title?
Q-3: "v2" stands for "Version 2." This is a remake of wgetoutalive.proboards.com
Before, v1 had a great boost of activity, but it was the kind that stayed active for about a month and died right away. However, since it had over 100 members, I feel like it had lots of potential, and I've always had inspiration for this site. So, I wanted to remake it and make things go right this time to keep it constantly active. It really was a great site to be part of. It'll be amazing to start it back up again and watch it regrow.
Q-4: What's the Clan Stats thing at the top with the points?
A-4: The Clan Stats points are a new system that will work much like Houses from the Harry Potter series. The Clans will be rewarded with points for how well they're doing, for having great RPers, for having the biggest Clan, for being the most active Clan, etc. However, points can also be reduced; rule-breakers within a Clan can lose their points, as can bad behavior toward other members, especially toward staff, and anything that can break the Warrior Code within a roleplay post can deduct points as well.
Q-5: Okay, what are the points for then?
A-5: The Clan with the most points wins a prize by set deadlines. Don't worry about deadlines--they'll last more than two months for sure. However, the prize is currently a mystery and will probably stay that way until the points system is completely tweaked out and easy to use.
Q-6: Where can I post a leaving thread if I ever have to ditch this place for good?
A-6: You don't. If you leave, you may PM me noting such an event, but I will not allow an official thread announcing your departure. This is because when a person sees someone leave for good, especially if a best friend, it can remind them of past times when they've lost things, and create a feeling of loss for that person. I'd rather not have people feel that here. If you must, feel free to PM a couple of your good friends you've made here, but leave them some form of contact if they request it. Don't make someone feel that horrible loss; I'm sure you'd hate feeling that kind of loss too.
Q-7: What's this Report board system?
A-7: The Report system helps members and the administrator keep track of any rule-breaking happening, or track of any upsets between members. If you find someone that broke a rule or if you think someone is not behaving nicely, you are to report them in that board. I feel this will help teach people who join to become more responsible.
Now, this doesn't mean that, say if someone goes "I'm telling!" to someone else, you report that right away. No, it has to be something that could be serious.
For example, you are roleplaying with a friend. You make a post you know isn't violating any rule, but your friend then powerplays in their post. You point it out nicely to them and they go "oh sorry, I forgot" and they fix it their second time. However, they post with you again, and it's another powerplay. By this point you would create a thread in the Reports board following its report form explaining they powerplayed, what happened during the powerplay, etc. I would take note of it, look at the situation, and determine whether the reported roleplayer needed a warning or not.
You get the general idea?
Q-8: I'm new to role-playing; where do I start?
A-8: Your first stop for roleplay is here in the FAQs. We'll go over what roleplaying is next. However, your stop after reading that section is the Character Applications board. That is where you will create your roleplaying character that must be accepted before you begin RPing. How to create the character will be explained there.
Q-8: So, what exactly is roleplaying?
A-8: Roleplaying is where a person makes a character and acts like they are that character as they write. Roleplaying is done in third-person form, as if you were writing a fantasy novel. Here's an old example of a roleplay post I made for a biography a long time ago:
Shadows engulfed the forest as Blackfrost stalked a small brown mouse. His fur was just barely touching the ground as he crept forward. When he was a tail-length away, Blackfrost prepared to leap at his prey. But at that moment, he heard a bush rustle behind him and jumped, startled. He looked away from his prey, searching for whatever made the bush rustle. After a moment, he saw a glint of light inside the bush -- an eye was staring at him. He looked back at it for a couple of moments.
Just then, Blackfrost felt a drop of rain fall on his fur. They started falling faster, and Blackfrost looked up to the sky. It was starting to rain pretty hard. He looked back at the bush, but the eye was gone. He frowned, and then shrugged, realizing he had lost his lunch. He muttered bitterly under his breath, and started to head back to camp, his gray-tipped tail hanging down in exhaustion.
That's basically how it goes. The longer the post, the better! There'll be points given for longest post, most detailed post, etc. So get creative!
Q-9: How do we go about our characters having kits, and is it allowed in the RPs?
A-9: See THIS THREAD for your answer. Click the capital words.

If you see a question that wasn't fully answered or a question that wasn't answered at all, please contact me or whichever staff member that is online. That question and answer will be added into this list.
Since this is a place for questions, the list may be updated at any time. Please check the thread fairly often for any changes.
I hope this helped everyone, especially new members. Thanks for reading the FAQ!
