Affiliation is slightly different than just advertising. When you affiliate with someone, you're like partners helping each other acquire more page hits by linking each other through the clickable images. Advertising is just posting a link and description of your site and waiting for members to join. That's why there are separate sets of rules for them.
Many thanks to everyone who affiliates with GOA.
GOA's Affiliate Code:
Affiliation Form:
(Take out the spaces from the tags).
1) If you affiliate with GOA, please put our banner up before we put up yours unless I post an ad on your forum first. This way I know you're keeping your word on affiliating with us and we're in exchange, meaning we're both doing our part of a fair deal as opposed to me doing one half and the other giving nothing back or vice versa.
2) Your affiliate banner must be 88 x 31. Maximum size accepted aside from that is 92 x 40, but 88 x 31 is much preferred.
I do not want to have a stretching affiliate table with banners that don't line up with each other. It makes the forum look sloppy and like the admin is lazy and doesn't care about how they represent themself. Please make sure your affiliate banner is the right size or we will have to reject your request. We will not resize the banner for you.
3) If we choose to affiliate with you and put up your banner and you put up ours, and you later put your forum in maintenance mode or shut it down, your banner is going to be removed from our list. If the maintenance mode is lifted after two weeks, then it may stay in the list. This is to help keep the affiliates clean of inactive sites, so members can be presented with active sites they can actually participate in if they decide to join it.
4) GOA doesn't accept just any affiliate. Your site must have good standards and your site must be one that has potential. It looks bad on our end if we just accept a site that has a skin that's made from simple ProBoards pre-set codes and looks clashy, or if the site is totally disorganized, or if the page of the site stretches horribly, etc. It makes it look like GOA is desperate for any sort of advertising, which is quite untrue. Please make sure your forum looks good.
5) If for some reason your banner has not been put up on GOA yet, feel free to ask us in the Cbox, but don't be pushy about it by sending a message in the Cbox every hour or something like that. I'm bound to be on by the time you're asking about it unless it's a weekend, so please be patient while asking about your affiliates.
6) You will have seven days to put up our affiliate banner. I'm sure this will give a good enough chance to follow through the exchange. I'll be checking every day until I see it that you have our banner up. If the seven days have passed and you still have not put it up, I will be asking you in your cbox or however else I can contact you to put it up or to let me know why it isn't up yet. If I don't get a response by the time ten days total pass, your banner will be taken down.
7) If you take our banner down, yours goes down as well.
8) When you post your request to affiliate, please put "[Request]" in your thread's subject so I can see that you have an affiliate you want me to put up. This helps me keep threads organized.
9) Please be sure you follow the form given below. This makes taking care of these things go much faster.
Many thanks to everyone who affiliates with GOA.
