300 years have come and gone since the fall of Voldemort, the old Dark Lord. Since those three-hundred years, the Ministry has tightened it's grip on the wizarding world, and not in a kind manner. They muggle-borns and half-breeds, along with many supporting sects of the wizarding world are revolting against the Ministry.
